Isoflux Biomed Licenses Radiopaque Coating for Medical Devices

Isoflux Biomed, a provider of medical device coatings and surface treatments, announced today that it has signed a License Agreement with an undisclosed medical device manufacturer. Under this agreement, Isoflux has granted an exclusive, worldwide license to the manufacturer to use its VisTa™ tantalum radiopaque coating on their products.

The VisTa coating technology was developed by Isoflux Biomed to provide increased radiopacity to devices that are difficult to visualize under fluoroscopy.

“Isoflux is pleased to grant the first license to our proprietary radiopaque tantalum coating,” said David Glocker, Ph.D., president of Isoflux Biomed. “We believe there is an increasing need for radiopacity as devices are becoming smaller and more difficult to visualize. Our coating technology allows for the entire surface to be coated and thereby dramatically increases the visibility of the device and facilitates more accurate placement.”
